STEM Projects 2019-2020

1. Famous STEAMists in history

  • Students learned about Albert Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci, Marcie Curie, Vincent Van Gogh, and Ada Byron Lovelace. We did many fun experiments throughout the week such as making a lava lamp, skittles artwork, and coding.

2.  Pumpkin Catapult Challenge

  • Students had to create a catapult and launch a candy pumpkin around 6 different stations. 

    • Go the Distance- launch your pumpkin the farthest

    • Hit the Target- make your pumpkin hit the target

    • Great Heights- launch your pumpkin over a stack of books

    • Tower Topple- launch your pumpkin and knock over as many cups as you can

    • Score a Bucket- launch your pumpkin into a bucket

    • Hoop Shoot- launch your pumpkin through the hula hoop

3. Witch's Brew Challenge

  • Students needed to create a bubbling witch's brew potion with the fewest ingredients possible. The brew must use both dry and wet ingredients. Once the brew bubbled they figured out the challenge!

4. Bloxels Unit

  • Students are working on creating their own video game by using the program Bloxels. First they have to make their own characters and then create the game.

5. Sewing Projects

We have been working on hand sewing and they have really enjoyed it!

6. Ocean Unit

Students researched a lot of ocean animals and then picked on they wanted to make a poster about. Then we used that information to create ocean dioramas. They had a great time doing this! 

7. Sewing Projects

We have done various sewing projects this week. First we used looms to make potholders, felt bookmarks, glove monsters, and new sew heart pillows.

8. Science Experiments

This week we did 5 science experiments- Magic Milk, Exploding Baggie, Color Bombs, Fishing for Ice, and Dancing Raisins. Here are is the experiments if you would like to try them at home.
