What is CELP?

Join us this year for Centura Expanded Learning Program (CELP). This is Centura Public Schools After School Program, which is held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 3:45-5:45pm and Wednesday 3:10-5:10pm. The school does not provide transportation. Also when there is no school there is NO CELP. This year it will cost $10 per month per child or $90 for the year per child. This will help provide snacks for the program.

In this program your child will participate in many different projects and activities that they don’t get to do during the regular school day! We will be taking virtual field trips, creating art projects, STEM activities, using technology, sewing, science projects and much more! In addition, they will have time to get help with their homework.

The Expanded Learning Opportunities Grant

On the Nebraska Department of Education website, the Expanded Learning Opportunities Grant is defined as an array of safe and structured programs that offer healthy growth, development, and academic opportunities for youth. Centura Elementary has been rewarded the ELO Grant for three years with hopes of continuing the program for years to come. To receive the grant, the school district went through a process of answering questions about the needs of our district and what we would like to accomplish with the grant. Once Centura received the grant, it covered the costs of teacher and assistant wages and all materials required.

Centura Expanded Learning Program receives a grant for summer program!

Centura Expanded Learning Program receives $20,000 for a community capacity building program this summer. The money will be used to create week-long student programs that focus on agriculture, technology, food service, basic automotive, entrepreneurship, fitness, and the arts.

Community Comments

My kids enjoy CELP so much!  It has been a great opportunity for them to extend their learning beyond the school day in a productive and structured environment.  They are often so excited to tell me about what they did after school and they are always able to tell me something they learned, too!  Our community is so fortunate to have access to this wonderful program!
